Great spot for kayaking and swimming. Super falls, but very few established trails, scramble up the rocks, not hard. The road though, 1 hr 40 min of rough road, one way, hard on my old lady neck. There were a number of people there on the weekend, they were not deterred by the drive.

The drive here is very rocky and bumpy, but it is well worth the drive. We arrived here June 7th 2021 and there wasn’t a soul around. We had the entire lake to ourselves for the exception of the occasional passerby group. There were some garter snakes around, but they were harmless. We spent 2 nights here and did some fishing and hiking. The weather was a bit of a surprise, we must have caught the start of a cold front because it was very windy the first night and cold the next night. The vault bathrooms are okay as far as toilets go. The actual campground area is small so I can imagine that it would certainly feel crowded if we had 3 or 4 neighbors. There are some beautiful waterfalls and cascades all within a mile from the campground. I highly recommend airing down as there are loads of rocks on the trail to get here and the last thing you want is to puncture a tire on loose terrain. Additionally, make sure you have reasonable ground clearance as a portion of the tight switchbacks between Bowman Lake and Sawmill Lake are a bit of a challenge for lower clearance unless you don’t mind scraping your undercarriage up. Other than that, bring lots of water unless you plan of filtering lake water and that’s about it. Hope you have as much fun as we did!🤠👍🏼

Great place, can be a little crowded. Lots of kayaks, SUP, canoes. Drive from bowman road can be tricky based on vehicle and Watch out for the side by sides as some drive really fast and dangerous. Did see several suburua outback and crosstrek.
