Nice concrete walking path if looking for a smooth surface to walk on. It’s not long a long path though. Could be great for birdwatching when it’s not duck hunting season.

Not worth the trip. Better views of lake elsewhere in the area. The water level was low in October, the view from the platform was obstructed by trees and you needed binoculars to see the ducks. The view was better at the shooting blinds, but the water was not much better than a mud puddle with no waterfowl. If you hoped for a beautiful mountain lake with views of waterfowl and the haunting call of a loon, this place was not it.

Great birding area. nice walking paths and access to water.
About Pintail Lake
Nestled in a gentle valley, Pintail Lake presents itself as a humble aquatic escape, attracting both avid birdwatchers and those in need of a tranquil stroll. While not delivering the quintessential postcard-perfect mountain lake experience, this site compensates with its rich avian life and serene ambiance. The lake’s main lure is its birdwatching potential, particularly appealing during mornings and evenings when various species, including geese and ducks, can be observed. Helpful informational posters make it easy for birders to identify and learn about different species. The setting is complemented by a concrete walking path which, although limited in length, offers a smooth walking surface. This makes for easy navigation, ensuring visitors can focus on the serene surroundings and flocks of birds without worrying about footing. Those contemplating a visit during duck hunting season are advised to consider the timing to make the most of the birdwatching opportunities. For photographers and binocular enthusiasts, the location demands gear with a good zoom, as vantage points are often somewhat distant from the water’s edge. While the lake itself may sometimes reflect more muddy cream than cerulean blue due to fluctuating water levels, the quality of the birdwatching tends to make up for this aesthetic shortfall. If you're birding inclined, Pintail Lake can still offer a peaceful diversion, rewarding patience with the subtle beauty of its winged residents.
